For those that may be interested, I have been playing with very low power levels lately, as low as -17 dBm or 20 uWatts. Since WSPRnet can only be set to a low power level of 0 dBm, I am using "/" to designate lower levels. IE "/10" for -10 dBm or "/17" for -17 dBm.
So far I've been able to get spotted occasionally at -17 at distances of about 700 - 1000 miles on 20 M. Amazing mode!

Has anyone else been having trouble accessing WSPRnet.org? I have been experiencing problems for several weeks and it has gotten progressively worse recently. Very slow response or no response at all. Also noticed spot uploads failing more often.

Discovered a new COOL "feature" in this version.

Spotting 2 stations on the same frequency in the same timeslot.

I logged 130 "twofers" in October out of 60k spots. Mostly on 20 and 30 M, once on 10 M.

K4COD began seeing this when he upgraded to 1.6.1 as well. We had been running 1.6.0 previously.

I wonder how the decoder is able to work this magic. Very neat !

Thanks to all of you who make WSPR a reality.

I'm trying to compare spots from 2 SDRs on same antenna using Windows 7 PC running WSJT-X. When I attempt to launch second instance, I get error "Another instance may be running, try to remove stale lock file?". Clicking YES or RETRY just repeats it, clicking NO gives an error "Multiple instances must have unique rig names". I tried changing the CAT rig selected to NONE and get same results.
Has anyone been able to run 2 instances of this application?

Thanks,

I have been experiencing these failures at an increasing rate as the number of spots has increased over the years. It seems that the server is overwhelmed during the first 20 - 30 seconds after each 2 minute period ends. There are seldom any failures between 00:00 and 08:00 UTC when the volume decreases.

I wonder if there is a way to configure WSPR software to wait for a number of seconds before uploading received spots to the server to spread the load out over a longer period? I am running WSPR 2.21. Uploading manually is an alternative, but not very timely.
