The Weak Signal Propagation Reporter Network is a group of amateur radio operators using K1JT's MEPT_JT digital mode to probe radio frequency propagation conditions using very low power (QRP/QRPp) transmissions. The software is open source, and the data collected are available to the public through this site.


I've been plugging away for several weeks now with no spots from IO74.

I've a raspberry pi with a 1/4 wave dipole and lpf transmitting on 14.0971. The dipole is in my roofspace and facing east/west. I know transmitter power will be an issue but I'm hoping for at least one spot before I go to the bother of making an rf amplifier.

I don't have a rig but I'm getting a good signal via my computer/sdr dongle 20-30m away from the raspberry pi transmitter.

If someone can point something at me or do some wspr receiving magic I would be very happy :-)

Today's tests are on 20 meters using an FT-817 @ 5 watts, a Galaxy Tab 3 tablet, WOLPHILink Interface, and an MFJ 1899T 'walkabout' antenna unning in a second floor bedroom. So far reports show reception from both sides of the USA and up into Canada. I've had decent luck with this minimal setup, making SSB and CW QRP contacts on a fairly regular basis.

If I can get the antenna tuned up nicely I'll probably switch to 30 meters this evening.

If possible please QSY 60 meter WSPR to dial frequency to 5.3647 MHz so the TX frequency is 5.3662 MHz.
We are than within the new IARU R1 HF bandplan.

Recently I tried an experiment, I went mobile on 70cm WSPR. I used an Icom IC706mkIIg that I have in the car along with a rubidium 10 MHz frequency reference and tripler to replace the Icom's 30 MHz master oscillator. I ran WSJT-X on an old laptop. The antenna I used was a dual-band vertically polarized whip so it was cross polarized to the signals from the N6GN home station beacon running WSPR, JT65A, JT9 and CW on ~432.301500.

Just testing Elecraft KX2 and WSPR, works fine, with 1 watt @ 30m up to 18.000km to ZL.

Hi – Currently WSPR’ing 144.4905 – running about 20w – beaming SE from IO84mv – Carlisle, Cumbria

This year's summer vacation is in Balatonfüred / Hungary (JN86wx). Our accomodation is about 100m over the lake with a great view to the south. I brought some antennas to test with me:
- a very simple GP for 40m / 15m just built by some wires and a 12m glass fibre mast
- a ZS6BKW (it's been the pile up cracker during our last holidays in croatia)

I'm going to play on 2m for a few hours. I'd be interested to know if anyone can hear me.

Hello everybody,

I have built a 250 m beverage antenna, pointing to Europe. It seems it is doing wonders on 40 metres, so I will be leaving my receiver on that band again tonight. EU signals are receivable even over an hour after local sunrise! I can see about 50 unique EU callsigns from yesterday...

It may be a good chance for you, if you are trying for a distance record using QRPp!

I've recently constructed an 8 mtr circumference Mag Loop for use on 40-80 mtrs. It has an auto-tune system and I'm interested in seeing how it performs compared to the vertical antenna I used to use on these bands.

I have the WSPR Droid software up and running on my FT-817, using the WOLPHI-Link Interface. So far things are working fine on 20 meters at 1 Watt to a GAP Challenger vertical. Further experiments on other bands will be forthcoming.
